More information about headline of the week:
German Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser presented her plan for the defense against cyberattacks. In order to do that Faeser proposed to strengthen the competences of the German state as well as a change of the constitution. Especially the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is supposed to get mor competences. Right now the responsibility is lying on the states. Faeser claims that this is not contemporary to meet current threats. Especially the outdated German information technology is a threat to the Cybersecurity of critical infrastructure and Government agencies. Another reason for centralizing the competences is that many authorities mean that decisions are time consuming and are often too late when a cyberattack is launched. Also small and middle sized companies should get funding for investing in cyberesilience.
